Culturous - Cultural Exchange from Home

Online | Cost-free | 8 weeks | in English | every quarter

Culturous' mission is to provide teenagers from around the world the opportunity to exchange culture, build global connections, and develop compassion without the barriers of physical location or financial resources. Culturous is 'Cultural Exchange from Home' - fully virtual/online and cost-free for the participants.

Our participants are developing awareness, understanding, and compassion for other cultures, building future-orientated skills, and connecting with an international peer group.

Participants are matched in small groups that are going together through the 8-week program (about 3 hours per week) with weekly changing modules. Each module includes:

- A new cultural topic of the week

- A short knowledge session

- Online activities

- A live online group session for exchange and conversation

With completion of the program, the participants receive a (digital) Certificate and will be invited to join the Culturous Alumni Group to stay in touch and continue to communicate and learn from each other.

Participant Profile

Based on the program focus and framework, we only have a few basic requirements applicants have to meet to apply for the program:

- Commitment to participate for the full program duration (8 weeks, about 3 hours per week)
- 13-19 years old
- Good English speaking/understanding skills
- Access to a learning device (e.g. computer, laptop, tablet) with camera and microphone at home/
on the weekend
- Access to (high speed) internet at home/on the weekends

    Selection Process

    Easy and quick online application, followed by a video interview with selected applicants. Participant selection and acceptance will be based on a variety of factors, such as the overall number of applications, the meeting of basic requirements, availability for online sessions, and maximum distribution of demographics.

    The program is cost-free for participants. Participants have to meet the basic requirements (see above) which include the commitment to participate in the full program duration (8 weeks, about 2 hours per week).
