    ESC in Italy for youth activities and the management of an hostel Verified listing

    Location: Crotone, Italy

    Who: residents of EU countries only, aged 18-30

    Hosting institution: One cooperativa sociale

    One is a social cooperative dealing with everything related to the world of languages: travel, interpreting, tour guides, school trips on historical/artistic themes, language courses, translations...It promotes sustainable tourism through a youth hostel in the historical town of Crotone. The ESC volunteers will help with the management of the hostel, teaching foreign languages and with social development activities.

    The travel costs will be reimbursed up to a certain amount allocated by the European Commission; accommodation and food are provided by the host organization. The volunteer will also receive pocket money monthly.

    Tasks

    - Management of a hostel
    - Teach English or their native language to the locals who have few opportunities
    - Support local trips for youth
    - Support the teachers and educators during workshops for 13-17 teens on different educational topics
    - workshops at school with 11-14 youth
    - support the touristic infopoint of the Municipality of Crotone
    - communication on the website and social media
    - Share the ESC experience to promote this opportunity among youth
    - possibility to work on projects with disadvantages women.

    About the organisation

    Cooperativa One is based in Crotone (Southern Italy). It offers language courses, cultural visits and translations. The area they're based in sees a high rate of youth unemployment, and despite that, they face a true difficulty in finding young people speaking at least two foreign languages. Because of that, they decided to invest in the effort of giving to young people more chances to enter the labour market.

    Volunteer Profile

    The profile of an ideal volunteer is:

    - MUST be aged between 18 and 30
    - MUST be legally resident or citizen of an EU country
    - is open-minded towards different cultures
    - is willing to learn and try new things
    - can communicate in English
