This internship can deliver both mentor-ship and practical experience for those in need while helping side-by-side with professionals & experts.

Eligibility requirement: At least one year in further education (college/university) in a relevant field, such as education, health sciences, psychology or social work. Previous experience working with children is desirable, as well as a knowledge of social work practice and theories. Interns must have a genuine interest in social work and commitment to hands-on & observation of helping those in need.
University Credit: Cerca Abroad in cooperation with Webster University (Athens Campus) is able to offer a program upgrade and allow participants to gain transferable US university credits for all in-person programs. The upgrade is applicable for programs longer than 5 weeks and the upgrade fee is US$350.
This is an in-country hands-on & observation program with provided shared housing and local team support.
Although Greece is a developed country and part of the European Union, it is facing real social challenges. The influx of high numbers of refuges, poverty and domestic violence are issues that affect all of us and there is a high need for people to help. Interns will support priorities for mental health, abuse, as well as working to support community members with diverse needs, such as the elderly, at-risk youth, and people with disabilities as well as in crises that arise from a natural disaster. Interns should be flexible to interact with diverse cultures and demographics and while they are not expected to be directly responsible for any client/patient care, they will provide services and care for people. Please note the degree of independence and nature of the tasks that Psychology interns will be assigned is dependent on your prior experience. The team is mostly trained or worked abroad in the UK or USA, eliminating any language barriers and offering international expertise.

Internship Duties:
Needs evaluation and personalized planning for beneficiaries and vulnerable groups, Accompanying to complete socio-prudence issues, Home visits, Organizing Webinars, Trainings to volunteers and/or students, Writing articles, Writing Erasmus+ projects, Communications with Universities and Colleges for Study visits at units, Collaborations with others services and organizations, Organizing cultural and educational actions in the community, Folding and Information System of Beneficiaries, Data recording.

We will review your application and if we accept you on this internship we will ask you to pay a non-refundable deposit of US$250 to secure your place. The remaining of your internship fees (less your initial US$250 deposit payment) will be due no less than 60 days before your internship start date.
Internships start on Mondays and interns have a choice to participate to a program between a minimum of 2 weeks or up to a maximum of 12 weeks .
The program fee includes a free airport pickup on the Sunday before the Monday start date. To qualify for the free pickup interns are required to arrive between 9am-6pm. At the airport interns will be welcomed and transferred to their housing. For interns arriving at an earlier date, a pickup maybe provided if requested and subject to availability.
COVID: All interns in this program must be vaccinated before arrival. For all participants a weekly PCR/Rapid test may be required following government regulations and you will be notified if any change occurs.
Adequate information about the city and hosting institution will be sent before arrival. It includes information about the city, local culture, rules, emergency contact numbers and the local team.
The accommodation is fully furnished (single or double beds), with WiFi, shared with 1-6 other same-sex interns, and located in safe areas with easy access to public transport and close to the hospital. The last night of the accommodation is the Friday night of the final week, leaving interns free to depart on Saturday. Extra nights of accommodation or private apartments can be arranged in advance, if requested and subject to availability.
Interns should budget 30 Euros (about US$35) for a 30-day unlimited public transport card, 3-5 Euros for breakfast (about US$5-7) and 5-10 Euros for a simple lunch (about US$5-12). Greece has many dining options and from many different cuisines ranging from budget to high end depending on the intern’s needs. Most places accept credit/debit cards but interns are advised to carry cash in Euros.
As for Greece, perhaps there is no need for an introduction. It is one of the most popular and safest destinations in the world. Situated in southeast Europe it is blessed with sun, friendly people, rich cuisine and a truly unique landscape that spans from green forests to the deep blue sea. With its 2,500 years of history and its 1,400 islands there is plenty to discover in Greece and it will satisfy the most demanding visitor. Greece is one of the warmest countries in Europe with long, hot & dry summers and mild winters. The popular time to visit Greece is between May to September end. Occasionally heatwaves may occur with temperatures peaking (1-2 days) around 105°F / 41°C.
