The travel costs will be reimbursed up to a certain amount allocated by the European Commission. Accommodation and food will be provided by the host organisation. The volunteer will also receive pocket money (5 euros per day).

Tasks

The activities of the project:

- supporting the educators in their daily work with the children;
- supporting minors housed in the community in individual and group activities;
- organising recreational activities like games and workshops;
- language support;
- sports activities, short trips, and visits;
- looking after the common spaces.

About the organisation

Cooperativa Diapason, founded in 1985 and as the main aim has a creation of a positive change in lives of minors and their families that, by culture or condition, are compromised. The development of solidarity, tolerance and mutual understanding are the goals that Diapason have always pursued.

Diapason team has professionals such as educators, psychologists, tutors and in-house coordinators and each of them is ready to share fundamental aspects of working in social work with ESC volunteer. The center takes care of minors from 8 to 14 years old, who are temporary or permanently are unaccompanied by the adult responsible for them by law or by the practice of the EU.

The goal is to be able to work in a team, develop organisational, problem solving, and connection skills, integration of different points of view, and transparent communication.

Volunteer Profile

The profile of an ideal volunteer is:

- MUST be aged between 23 and 30 years old;
- MUST be resident in an EU country;
- Ready to work with unaccompanied minors of the age group 8-14 of Italian and international background;
- Have educational background - socio-pedagogical, psycho-pedagogical, social work, etc.
- Ready and motivated to interact with local people and live a deep cultural experience;
- Patient, kind, polite, tolerant, able to listen actively and willing to work in team;
- Positive and active attitude;
- Good knowledge of English; big plus basic Italian.
