ESC Volunteering in a Women's Community House and a Nursery Verified listing

Cooperativa Sociale Mignanego is a non-profit social cooperative active in Genoa since 1996, committed to promoting rights and building supportive communities, with a focus on early childhood, gender-based violence and women’s empowerment.

The volunteer will work in two services in the historic centre of Genoa:

• Nido Vico Rosa, a nursery for 27 children aged 0–3 based on the pedagogy of relationships, Montessori, Reggio Children and Munari; and
• Brigata Alice, a Women’s Community House, a free and inclusive space for women and the LGBTQI+ community of every age.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements  (600 caratteri):

Accommodation: The volunteer will live in Genova in one of the three shared flats managed by P.E.CO. (two for 4 people, one for 11–12), with double/triple rooms, placed according to availability. 2 of the 3 flats can only be reached by stairs. Living together is a key part of the experience.

Pocket money and food: 6 euros per day and food or a food allowance will be provided.

Travel: The travel expenses will be reimbursed on the basis defined by the European Commission.

Training during the opportunity: (600 caratteri):

The volunteer will participate in the training opportunities offered by the Italian National Agency (On Arrival Training, Mid Term Evaluation, and Final Evaluation). In addition, they will also take part in the training opportunities organized by association P.E.CO., together with the other volunteers involved in the activities of other Hosting Organizations in Genoa. They will also receive specific training from the cooperative’s team on how to work with young children, families and the people welcomed at Brigata Alice.
