About the organisation

With Young Champions of the Earth – the UN’s top prize for young environmental activists – UNEP seeks young innovators with ideas that demonstrate nature’s potential in tackling the triple planetary crisis.

The climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and increasing pollution threaten natural ecosystems and societies. UNEP needs young visionaries who can envision a greener future and create new solutions.

Young people face rising inequality and unemployment. They need better access to resources, involvement in environmental decisions, and personalized support.

In 2024, Young Champions of the Earth will be chosen from around the world. Winners receive funding, training, and mentoring to implement their environmental projects.

Finally UNEP welcomes young artists, scientists, economists, communicators, and entrepreneurs with bold ideas for a sustainable future.

The prizes

Winners will receive $20,000 to start their projects, opportunities to join important UN gatherings, support from worldwide experts, thorough training.

They will also receive a personalised guidance to realise their environmental plans.

The community

The Young Champions of the Earth prize is also more than just a title; it’s about growing future environmental leaders. Those who show eagerness to learn will get mentoring, chances to build skills, and join a community of similar-minded entrepreneurs and experts.
