Description

Young Green Force brings together 12 young people from 18 to 30 years old for a 1-month volunteering experience in Cabo de Gata Natural Park, Spain. It is a rural immersion for those who want to live in an extraordinary natural environment and take part in its protection and restoration.

Tasks

Volunteers will work in groups and rotate between different tasks, ensuring a dynamic routine and the opportunity to learn a variety of skills.

Trails and stone walls: Clear vegetation and carry out basic maintenance of old trails and restore ancient dry stone walls.

Environmental actions: Collect, sort, and recycle garbage in areas of the Park.

Teenagers/children: 2–3 meetings in local schools to present the volunteers’ cultures, countries of origin, and European youth programmes.

Project visibility: Take and edit photos and videos of the project, share them on social media and the project’s website.

Cooking and housekeeping: Prepare meals and manage household needs. YGF is a self-managed community!

About the organisation

Host Organization: Vereda Colectiva Association was founded in Almería (Spain) to transform territory and community through ecology, culture, and civic participation. It’s a non-profit organization working for the protection and restoration of natural spaces, sustainable mobility, urban life, and the promotion of coexistence in diverse, multicultural contexts. We believe in the power of volunteering, education, and art as tools for change, and we develop projects connecting environment, community culture, and international solidarity.

Coordinating Organization: Link Cultural Association, founded in 2003 in Altamura (Italy), promotes solidarity, active citizenship, and intercultural dialogue through local, national, and international projects. It has engaged thousands of young people in volunteering, mobility, and cultural initiatives across Europe, while also developing school programs and managing community libraries. Its activities foster participation, non-formal education, cultural exchange, and the fight against discrimination.

Volunteer Profile

- Your age is between 18 and 30;
- You legally reside in the European Union, Turkey, the Balkans, or the Caucasus;
- You are interested in environmental activities;
- You are motivated to improve practical and manual skills, problem-solving and teamwork competencies, and your sense of initiative;
- Willing to live for 1 month in a rural area and disconnect from your daily routine;
- You’re keen to meet the local community, create opportunities, and make a difference both for them and yourself;
- You are ready to face possible challenges;
- You are open to living and collaborating with other young people from different countries and creating lifelong connections.
- We value experience in the field of environmental education and skills related to the main activities of the project.
