We have already been talking about DiscoverEU, haven’t we? For a quick recap see our last article.
DiscoverEU is a community of young 18-years-old travellers that focuses on preparing their travel journeys, sharing their stories while or after traveling or providing tips and suggestions to other young travellers. As such, it works primarily through their official Facebook group. It was born under the initiative of the European Commission, and it is now available to get through on the European Youth Portal.
Good news is that DiscoverEU is just about to reopen in October 2022 for a new round of applications! With 60,000 travel passes to discover the richness of Europe while travelling by train.
The next applications for DiscoverEU will open on the European Youth Portal, from Tuesday 11 October 2022 at 12:00 (CEST) to Tuesday 25 October 2022 at 12:00 (CEST).
To apply, you need to:
– one of the Member States of the European Union including Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) or
– one of the third countries associated to the Erasmus+ programme: Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Turkey;
If you are selected, you can travel for a period of minimum 1 day and up to 30 days between 1 March 2023 and 29 February 2024.
After filling in your personal data in the application form, you will have to answer a quiz of 5 multiple-choice questions on general knowledge about the European Union and on other European Union initiatives targeting young people. You will be also asked to answer a subsidiary question.
If you have a disability or a health problem that makes your trip challenging, you will receive assistance and support to help you take part in DiscoverEU.
