Description

Together Media is a community media project from Learn Together CIC. We create accessible, video-led content covering current affairs, social issues, education and community stories.

As an intern or trainee, you may contribute to:

  • Researching topics and fact-checking information
  • Planning videos and preparing scripts or interview questions
  • Presenting news, explainers and social stories on camera
  • Hosting or contributing to interviews and podcasts
  • Recording B-roll and other supporting footage
  • Creating short-form and longer-form video content
  • Supporting editing, captions and social media production

Activities will be matched to your interests and the needs of each project. Training, editorial guidance and ongoing support will be provided. The experience can also help you build practical skills and a professional media portfolio.

Job Profile

This opportunity is open to everyone, regardless of previous experience or educational background. We are looking for people who:

Are interested in media, storytelling or social issues
Are willing to learn and try new creative tasks
Can communicate clearly and work reliably
Are comfortable appearing on camera or would like to develop their confidence
Can work independently as part of a remote team
Are willing to follow editorial, safeguarding and confidentiality policies

Placement Information

Remote and unpaid
Minimum commitment of two hours per week
Flexible weekday and weekend opportunities
Optional in-person filming in Manchester
No specialist equipment required—participants only need a smartphone and internet access
Training and ongoing support provided

Work Hours

This is a flexible, part-time internship/traineeship requiring a minimum of five hours per week. Working hours will be agreed in advance based on the intern’s availability and the project schedule. Work can be completed remotely during the week or at weekends, although attendance at agreed meetings, interviews and production sessions may be required.

    This is a remote, unpaid internship/traineeship. Interns and trainees will receive training, editorial guidance, supervision and feedback throughout the placement.

    Participants are expected to complete agreed assignments, meet deadlines, attend scheduled remote meetings and follow Learn Together CIC’s editorial, safeguarding, confidentiality and conduct policies. Optional in-person production opportunities may also be available in Manchester.
