The initiative

The EU4Ocean Coalition combines EU-wide activities with actions dedicated to the Arctic Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea, the Mediterranean Sea and the global ocean.

The primary objective of the project is to disseminate information regarding the influence of human actions on the well-being of the oceans and seas.

It also offers avenues for taking action, engaging in scientific research and connecting with like-minded individuals.

The initiative wants to mobilise:

  • Wider society, organisations, and stakeholders involved in ocean literacy (via the EU4Ocean members’ platform)
  • Young people from EU (through the Youth4Ocean Forum)
  • And a school community (via the Network of European Blue Schools)

Thanks to the substantial progress achieved during its initial two years, the European Commission is currently considering of renovating the project.

What’s in for young people

The Youth4Ocean Forum empowers young individuals by giving them a platform to voice their concerns. Participants can also share their innovative ideas, showcase their projects, and connect with like-minded people from across Europe.

The Youth4Ocean Forum offers a unique opportunity for young participants to submit their projects and become EU Young Ocean Advocates.
