EURES: Work Everywhere in Europe

Have you gone through an Erasmus Plus project while being a university student? Or maybe you’ve been an European Solidarity Corps volunteer, and even took part in a Youth Exchange. No matter where your European spirit comes from. Once experiencing an opportunity abroad, it is hard to come back to your home country and surrender to the idea of not moving out again, ready for the next international step. In other words, you may want to think about how to find a job and work in Europe.

EURES: Work Everywhere in Europe

If the time has come for you to look up for a job and the idea of getting a working position abroad triggers you, EURES might be the best solution.

EURES is a free, multilingual network and platform, that exists since 1994. It is a European cooperation network of employment services, to facilitate the free movement of workers across Europe. The principle guiding EURES is that European citizens can benefit from the same opportunities, despite language barriers, cultural differences, bureaucratic challenges, diverse employment laws and a lack of recognition of educational certificates across Europe.

How It Works

EURES works indeed as a European work mobility portal. It is a place to find jobs filtering for sector, country, duration, type of contract and so on. Giving the European dimension, it is common to find jobs where the knowledge of English language is necessary. But if you are polyglot enough, you can either find jobs in any other official European language.

The vacancies available in “EURES Search for a job” cover a wide range of occupations and include permanent and seasonal opportunities.

Each vacancy has information on how to apply and whom to contact. The contact may be either a EURES adviser, who will process the application or, in other cases, the employer.

We highly recommend to prepare in advance an Europass CV, as this is commonly asked when applying. Needless to say, the CV has to be in English.

Work in Europe with EURES Targeted Mobility Scheme

Replacing the initiative “Your First EURES Job”, that ended in April 2021, EURES Targeted Mobility Scheme is the new support to help you seize an exciting job opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills in another EU Country, Iceland or Norway.

EURES TMS aims to help EU nationals that need tailored assistance to find a job, traineeship or apprenticeship opportunity in another EU country, Norway or Iceland, and to support employers to find motivated and qualified workers.

Eligibility Criteria

There are few rules to join EURES. Specifically you must meet the following criteria:

  • Wish to find a job, traineeship or apprenticeship in an EU Member State, Iceland or Norway;
  • Be at least 18 years-old;
  • Have the nationality of an EU Member State, Norway or Iceland.
